(Tamaroa, Ill.) - Much like they did in the first two rounds of Regional games, Tamaroa-St. Bruno's girls basketball team cleaned house in the championship on Tuesday night, rolling past Pinckneyville #204 51-21 and into the State Finals Tournament that begins on Saturday at Rend Lake College.
The Lady Indians raced out to a 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter, and things only got worse from there for the Lady Tigers. Lily Tanner had a monster game for T-SB, scoring 21 points and making 9-of-12 free throws.
Grace Alongi added 11 points for the Lady Indians, Emily Ruppert had 5, Olivia Dill 4, and Molly Doerflein, Olivia Phillps, Chloe Eisenhauer, Jillian Shaneyfelt and Jaleigh Moss each had 2.
For #204, Kassidy Lee's 7 points were a team-high. Maddie Williams chipped in 6 points, Taylor Kurtz 4, and Cheyenne Pauley and Lindsay Geffers each finished with 2.
The Lady Indians will meet up with St. Mary's (Mt. Vernon) in the quarterfinals of the State Tournament on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. The winner of that game moves on to the semifinals on January 25.
