St. Bruno wins battle of local contenders, defeats DMS 25-19, 25-13

  (Pinckneyville, Ill.) - Two of the area's best junior high volleyball squads met up on Monday night in Pinckneyville with St. Bruno remaining unbeaten by knocking off Du Quoin Middle School 25-19, 25-13, getting a team-high 20 kills from Lily Tanner.
  Emily Ruppert led the Lady Falcons in digs with 15, Jillian Shaneyfelt led assists with 12 and aces with 8. Ruppert also had 7 kills, and Grace Alongi and Jenna Opp each added 7 digs.
  For the Lady Warriors, who suffered just their second loss of the season, Ayanna Dunklin led the team in kills with 7, Lauren Heape led digs with 13, Sophie Miller topped assists with 8. Lexi Cobin added 9 digs, Loveleen Dunklin chipped in 4 kills.
  Unfortunately for St. Bruno, they would taste defeat for the first time all season the following night against St. Ann's, falling in three sets, 14-25, 25-16, 15-11. Ruppert led kills with 9, Alongi led digs with 14, Shaneyfelt led assists with 17.
  Du Quoin returns to action on Wednesday at Trico, St. Bruno is at home again on Thursday when they host Oakdale.
