Eventual State champ All Saints knocks out St. Bruno in Quarterfinals

  (Herrin, Ill.) - St. Bruno fought to a third set with eventual State Champion All Saints (Breese), but couldn't quite pull off the victory, falling 25-9, 19-25, 15-10 in the quarterfinals of the SIJHSAA Class S State Volleyball Finals on Saturday in Herrin.
  "Watching those young ladies play their hearts out against an amazing team like All Saints means more to me than any trophy," said St. Bruno coach Katie Shaneyfelt. "Their fight, desire and heart they showed is all a coach could ever hope for. I'm so grateful to have had the chance to coach such a great group of athletes."
  The Lady Falcons were all over Woodlawn in their tournament opener, winning 25-11, 25-11. Emily Ruppert led St. Bruno in kills with 3, Lily Tanner and Grace Alongi each had 2. Alongi, Jenna Opp and Jillian Shaneyfelt each recorded 2 digs. Tanner led blocks with 4, Alongi led aces with 5, and Shaneyfelt led assists with 5.
  Against All Saints, Tanner was the kill leader with 5, followed by Olivia Dill with 2. Ruppert topped digs with 9, Alongi had 8, and Opp, Shaneyfelt and Olivia Phillips each had 4. Opp had a team-high 2 aces, Tanner a team-high 2 blocks, and Shaneyfelt led assists with 8.
  St. Bruno finishes their season with an overall record of 25-2, including a victory over the second place team in Class L, Du Quoin, and a championship in the Little 8 Conference.
