(Pinckneyville, Ill.) - Nashville got four runs in the third inning and three in the sixth on their way to a 9-4 victory at home over the Panthers on Monday. Pinckneyville had 9 hits on the day, but stranded a total of 8 base runners.
The Panthers got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning when Kyle Kreger singled and scored on a base hit by Austin Alspach. But Nashville answered with a pair of hits for a run in the bottom half, then took advantage of three walks issued by PCHS pitching in the third when Hornet Tanner Bergmann hit a three-run homer to cap off a four-run inning.
PCHS tried to battle back with a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Isaac Hardin, and with two runs in the seventh after Tyler Rice and Kreger singled and scored, but Nashville maintained a lead throughout the rest of the game.
Rice (2-4, R), Kreger (2-4, 2 R), Alspach (1-2, 2 RBI, BB), Hardin (2-3, RBI), Dustin Bartnicki (1-3) and Kelton Linze (1-2) had hits for the Panthers at Nashville. Hunter Clark took the loss for PCHS with relief from Linze and Kreger.
