(Zeigler, Ill.) - Grayville had a little too much firepower for Elverado in the championship game of the Z-R Volleyball Regional on October 31, sending the Lady Falcons home for the season with a 25-13, 25-17 final score.

“You know, we had a great year,” said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. “These girls have played hard all season, we just ran into a better team tonight. Our passing and setting weren’t as sharp tonight and we definitely didn’t play enough offense to generate points. We did make a game of it in the second set, it just wasn’t enough. I’m going to really miss this group of seniors, they have been easy to coach and fun to be around.”

Seniors Emma Funk and Kaity Lewis each had 3 kills for Elverado. Morgan Bernardini led the team in digs with 8, with Abby Jeschke adding 7. Emma Yates led assists with 8, Funk topped blocks with 4.

EHS ends their season with an overall record of 23-10, which ties for the school’s record for wins in a season. The Lady Falcons also won the SEC championship with a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play.
