(Okawville, Ill.) - Elverado suffered their first loss since September 21 last Tuesday at Okawville, dropping the match 25-14, 25-20 after leading the first set 11-8 in the early-going.
“We started off the first set a blazing,” said EHS coach Donette Wheatley, “We had an 11-8 lead, playing offense, then the wheels fell off. We stopped hitting and had too many unforced errors. We did a much better job turning our defense into offense the second set, but again, the unforced errors hurt us.”
Emma Funk and Kaity Lewis each had 5 kills in the losing effort. E. Funk, Morgan Bernardini and Hayli Havens all finished with 5 digs apiece. Emma Yates led assists with 7, and Lewis had a team-high 3 blocks.
The junior varsity Lady Falcons squeaked out a three-set victory, 17-25, 25-19, 18-16. Chloe Barnes’ 8 kills led the offense, and Bernardini, Yates, Barnes, Sydney Schenk and Reese Funk each had 3 digs. Schenk added 5 service aces.
The freshmen match went to Okawville by the score of 21-6, 21-18. Emily Wisely led EHS with 3 kills, Macy Whitaker had a pair of digs.
