(Elkville, Ill.) - The Lady Falcons got a win for their four seniors on Senior Night at EHS on Monday, bouncing back from a rough first set to get past Zeigler-Royalton in three, 19-25, 25-22, 25-6.

“I’m glad the seniors got a win on their last night that they will play at Elverado High School,” said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. “Allie (Whittington)’s vicious hits, Jessica Elson’s serving runs, Jessica Sarensen’s hustle, and Morgan (Cashion)’s hits from the back row will be missed next year. I’m proud of this group of four girls and their efforts.”

“We gave Z-R way too many points in the first set, but regrouped and started to gel. We want to close out the regular season with a win (Tuesday) then get ready for Thompsonville next Tuesday (in the Regional tournament).”

Whittington had a monster effort with 10 kills and 8 digs, both team highs for Elverado. Morgan Bernardini also had 8 digs to share the lead. Elson added 5 kills, Emma Funk had 4 to go along with 7 digs. Emma Yates led assists with 11.

The Lady Falcons are now 21-8 overall with one game remaining before the postseason begins next Tuesday.

EHS’s J-V squad was also victorious, dismissing Z-R 25-13, 25-18. Abby Jeschke led kills with 4, and shared the team lead in digs with Teigan Rury and Chloe Barnes, as each finished with 3. The junior varsity Lady Falcons are now 18-3 on the year.
