Lady Falcons clinch conference championship with win at Dongola

  (Dongola, Ill.) - The Lady Falcons secured their second South Egyptian Conference championship in as many years on October 8 with a road win at Dongola, 25-11, 25-11.

  “We played very consistent tonight,” said Elverado coach Donette Wheatley. “We set the ball and played lots of offense. We took the conference championship tonight for the second year in a row - that’s never been done before at EHS. I’m very proud of these kids and their effort all year long. It’s a great day to be a Falcon!”

  Kaity Lewis had 11 kills for the Falcons, and Emma Funk added 7. Emma Yates led the way in both assists (12) and aces (5) for the night. The win gives the varsity team a perfect 8-0 mark in conference play while improving to 17-7 overall on the season.

  EHS also got the win in the J-V match, 25-11, 25-4. Chloe Barnes finished with a team high 5 kills, Sydney Schenk led assists (5) and aces (8). The junior varsity Falcons are now 14-1 overall, 8-0 in conference matches.
