(Marissa, Ill.) - Elverado fought off Marissa on October 8 for their 15th varsity match victory in a row, getting 8 kills from senior Allie Whittington in the 25-20, 25-19 road win.

“We are playing some great volleyball,” said coach Donette Wheatley. “They came out and took five and six point leads, but we didn’t let it bother us and got on track and played our game. We only missed one serve all night and we were taking their setter out of the game by giving the first hit to her. They were blocking our hits, so we adjusted. When they were expecting us to push the ball, we went back to hitting. We are playing smart and having fun.”

Jessica Elson and Emma Funk each added 4 kills, Kaity Lewis had 3. Funk and Morgan Bernardini lead the Lady Falcons in digs with 4 each, and Emma Yates topped assists with 10.

The J-V Lady Falcons also stayed hot, winning 25-14, 25-23. Chloe Barnes’ 6 kills and 7 digs were both team highs. Teigan Rury led EHS in assists with 8.

Barnes also led the freshman team in kills with 5 in their 21-9, 21-13 win. Bernardini and Reese Funk each recorded 5 digs.
