(Thompsonville, Ill.) - They dropped their first set in a month, but the Lady Falcons recovered to win their fourteenth consecutive match on October 4, taking down Thompsonville on the road 20-25, 25-22, 25-21.
"We had a rough start, we were down 17-8 and made a game of it," said Elverado head coach Donette Wheatley. "Then we got back to playing like we know how - lots of offense."
"Emma Funk was having a hard time behind the service line, so Jessica Sarensen did a great job coming off the bench getting three straight serves inbounds. We played lots of offense. Another great win for us, I'm proud of these girls for gutting it out."
Allie Whittington and Jessica Elson each tallied 10 kills for the Falcons, and Emma Funk was just one back with 9. Morgan Bernardini had a team-high 9 digs, and Elson (7), Emma Yates (6), Whittington (5), Funk (5) and Kaity Lewis (5) all had at least 5 digs. Yates (16) and Bernardini (15) combined for 31 assists, and Lewis and Funk each had 3 blocks.
The junior varsity Falcons also won in three sets, getting 4 kills apiece from Abby Jeschke, Hayli Havens and Raelyn Schoolcraft. Jeschke and Havens also had 4 digs each.
Elverado's freshmen were also victorious, improving to 5-1 on the year with a 25-10, 25-7 win. Reese Funk and Chloe Barnes led the way with 6 kills apiece.
