(Elkville, Ill.) - Kaity Lewis and Emma Funk finished with a combined total of 24 of Elverado’s 31 kills in the Lady Falcons’ three-set home win over Century on October 1, with scores of 25-11, 13-25, 25-7.
“We came out of the gates on fire,” said Falcons head volleyball coach Donette Wheatley. “We had 14 kills the first set and just ran away with it. All the momentum switched their way the second second and we got caught up playing their tip and push game. We only had four kills the whole set. They settled down, got back to our game - hitting - and closed the door on them quick in the third. They did a great job that third set with confidence. Big conference win for us.”
Lewis led kills with 13, Funk had 11. Morgan Bernardini topped digs with 3 and aces with 3, Emma Yates led assists with 14.
The junior varsity win also went to EHS behind 4 kills apiece from Raelyn Schoolcraft and Macy Whitaker. Sydney Schenk chipped in with 7 assists, and Reese Funk had 4 service aces.
