(Goreville, Ill.) - EHS volleyball is 5-0 in SEC play after a 25-23, 25-17 road win at Goreville on September 30, Kaity Lewis (6) and Emma Funk (5) combined to kill 11, and the team had a total of 19 kills in the two-set victory.
“We got behind early, but kept cutting into the lead as the score went back and forth,” said Lady Falcons head coach Donette Wheatley. “At one time we weren’t playing enough offense. If our offense is hitting, not tipping and pushing so much, we are a pretty good team.”
Morgan Bernardini and Emma Yates each had a team-high 5 digs, and Funk added 4. Bernardini and Yates also shared the lead in assists with 6, and Bernardini had 3 aces on 12-for-12 serving.
“Our serving has been better as of late and everybody contributes,” Wheatley said. “This was a good win for us going into our last two conference games, great effort tonight.”
Chloe Barnes and Reese Funk each had 5 kills in the J-V match, won by Elverado, 25-19, 26-24. Sydney Schenk and Emily Wisely both finished with 3 digs, and Schenk added 8 assists.
The varsity Falcons are now 14-7 overall while the J-V improved to 11-1.
