(Ullin, Ill.) - Elverado hasn’t lost a single set since a loss at Du Quoin on September 4, and the Lady Falcons extended their varsity volleyball winning streak to a dozen games on Thursday, September 27 with a road win over Century, 25-3, 25-17.

“We wanted tonight’s win bad,” said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. “They beat us at both levels last year. We dominated the first set by playing all the offense. The second was a bit different, their offense got hot, but we were diving and digging balls that we turned into offense. Mo (Morgan Bernardini) had a heck of a game behind the service line.”

The Lady Falcons, now 16-7 overall and 7-0 in the SEC, will play for their first volleyball conference championship in school history on Tuesday night at home against Joppa.

In the win over Century, Emma Funk recorded a team-high 6 kills and Jessica Elson added 4. Allie Whittington topped digs with 4, Teigan Rury led assists with 5, Funk led blocks with 3, and Bernardini had the most aces with 3 while racking up 24 points on her serve.

Elverado also took the win in the junior varsity match, 25-12, 14-25, 15-11. Hayli Havens led the offense with 6 kills, Rury added 3 digs and 9 assists.
