(Elkville, Ill.) - The first set between Elverado and visiting Egyptian on September 12 came down to the wire, but the second was dominated by the Lady Falcons, who went on to take the match 25-22, 25-10 to even their record at 6-6 on the season.

“They came out on fire,” said EHS coach Donette Wheatley. “Their big middle was getting kill after kill and blocking everything we hit. We pulled that set out by the skin of our teeth. The second set, we played much smarter and placed the ball, not allowing the Carthill girl to put it back in our face. We jumped on them right away in the second set and took the steam out of them. They are a much-improved team.”

Senior Kaity Lewis led the Lady Falcons in kills with 7, and fellow senior Emma Funk added 5 kills as well as 5 blocks. Emma Yates was the assist leader with 7, and Hayli Havens had 4 service aces.

The Lady Falcons’ junior varsity squad improved to 6-1 on the year with a 25-18, 25-5 victory earlier in the evening. Reese Funk’s 6 kills led the way, Chloe Barnes added 5. Yates led digs (3) and assists (7).
