(Elkville, Ill.) - The Lady Falcons suffered their second loss to a larger 2A school on August 29, falling to Murphysboro in two sets, 25-12, 25-14.

“We played very hard tonight even though the scores don’t show it,” said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. “We had way too many unforced errors and a team like Murphysboro doesn’t need any help. I think we were intimidated a bit, but we shouldn’t have been because we have played them the last three years. These games are going to help us in the long run. Our effort is there. They have gone all out, all three matches.”

Emma Funk, Hayli Havens and Kaity Lewis each had a pair of kills for Elverado, Lewis led digs with 4, and Emma Yates topped assists with 7.

The Devils were also triumphant in the J-V match, winning 25-16, 25-15, handing EHS their first junior varsity loss. Morgan Bernardini, Reese Funk, Faith Godoyo and Macy Whitaker each had one kill, R. Funk led digs with 5.

Elverado got the win at the freshman level, 25-18, 25-22, behind two kills apiece from Whitaker and Godoyo.
