(Vergennes, Ill.) - Allie Whittington allowed just one hit, Emma Funk drove in five runs, and Elverado crushed Crab Orchard in Wednesday's Regional semifinal in Vergennes, 16-0 in four innings. The Lady Falcons will take on Steeleville in Saturday's 11:00 a.m. championship at EJHS.
"We hit the ball hard tonight," said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. "The girls did a good job being patient and getting a pitch they could hit. Allie again did a great job from the circle only allowing one hit. We just need to keep on doing what we are doing."

Elverado broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the second inning after the first four batters reached base without a single hit. Funk then singled to score two, and Whittington (two-run double) and Cheradon Lively (RBI triple) each smacked extra-base hits, making it 7-0.
Funk, Whittington, Lively, Elizabeth Schafer, Chloe Barnes all had RBIs in the seven-run third inning for EHS, then Funk blasted a two-run homer to end it in the fourth.

Whittington gave up one walk and struck out eight for her 20th victory of the season. Funk (2-3, 3 R, 5 RBI, HR, BB), Whittington (3-3, 2 R, 4 RBI, 2B), Lively (2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI, 3B), Schafer (1-2, 2 R, RBI, BB), Barnes (2-2, 2 R, RBI, BB), Zoe Maple (1-3, R), and Morgan Cashion (1-2, 2 R, BB) had hits for the Lady Falcons. Tori Ehlers (0-1, 2 R, RBI), BB) walked and scored twice.
