(Vergennes, Ill.) - Allie Whittington tossed her third perfect game of the season and Elverado cruised to a 12-0 short-game win over Zeigler-Royalton on May 7 in Vergennes.

“We were very disappointed that we didn’t get to face their regular starters,” said EHS head coach Donette Wheatley. “Coach said he wanted to give them a rest and play those that don’t normally get to play. We were looking to get prepared for the regional. He really didn’t do either one of us a favor. We hit the ball very well again.”

Reese Funk (1-3, R, 2 RBI) and Zoe Maple (1-3, 2 RBI) each had RBIs in a six-run first inning for the Lady Falcons, who were never threatened from that point on.

Whittington fanned seven of the fifteen batters she faced and added three hits at the plate (3-3, 3 R, RBI, 2B). Emma Funk (1-4, R, 3B), Morgan Bernardini (2-3, 2 R, RBI), Chloe Barnes (2-3, 2 R, RBI, 2B), Emma Yates (2-3, 2 R, 3 RBI) and Kaity Lewis (1-3, R) also had hits for Elverado.
