(Vergennes, Ill.) - EHS pitcher Allie Whittington extended her no-hit streak in the circle to eleven innings and the Lady Falcons hammered Crab Orchard 13-0 in five innings on April 11 at their home field in Vergennes.

“The girls played a great game tonight,” said Elverado softball coach Donette Wheatley. “We hit the ball very well up and down the lineup. Emma (Funk) and Allie both hit bombs with two outs in the third inning. It started out rough with two errors, but fortunately for us none of them hurt us. They are really coming together and playing good ball.”

Whittington pitched around a pair of two-out errors in the top of the first, then retired the next eight batters in a row on her way to her second consecutive no-hitter, striking out nine batters and walking none.

  The offense stayed hot as well, slugging 14 hits from Funk (3-4, 3 R, 3 RBI, 2B, HR), Whittington (1-3, R, 2 RBI, HR, BB), Emma Yates (2-2, 2 R, RBI, BB, HBP), Chloe Barnes (2-3, 2 RBI), Zoe Maple (1-3, R), Kaity Lewis (2-3, 2 R, 2B), Sydney Schenk (1-3, R, 2 RBI, 2B) and Reese Funk (2-2, 2 R, 2 RBI, 3B).
