(Vergennes, Ill.) - Elverado took advantage of 18 walks and 2 hit batters, getting a 6-RBI game from cleanup hitter Emma Yates in their 19-2 4-inning victory over Egyptian on March 28. The Lady Falcons used four pitchers, each tossing one inning, with the victory going to Morgan Bernardini, the first of the freshman’s high school career.

“It was nice to get all four pitchers some work and see what they had,” said EHS coach Donette Wheatley.

The win was the eighth in a row for the Lady Falcons, who are unbeaten since an opening day loss at Red Bud.

Elverado only needed five hits, and three of those came from Yates, who finished 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and six driven in. Five of her RBIs came in the bottom of the first inning, two on a single, three on a double. Emma   Funk (1-1, 3 R, 3 BB) and Chloe Barnes (1-1, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2 BB) had the other hits for the Falcons.

Bernardini (1 IP, 0 H), Funk (1 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 1 K), Yates (1 IP, 0 H, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 HB) and Allie Whittington (1 IP, 0 H, 3 K) all saw time in the circle for EHS against Egyptian.
