(Webber Township, Ill.) - After a disappointing loss on opening day, the Lady Falcons exploded for 17 runs on 17 hits against Webber Township on Saturday, March 16, coming home with a 17-0 victory and a four-inning no-hitter for pitcher Allie Whittington.

“Our bats came to life today,” head coach Donette Wheatley said. “Katie Lewis and Chloe Barnes both hit dingers and several kids had multiple hits. I wish we could have hit like that (against Red Bud).”

Whittington’s only blemish in the pitching circle was a two-out walk in the bottom of the third inning. She faced a dozen batters and fanned ten of them to even her record on the year at 1-1.

Offensively, Elverado was on fire all day, up and down the lineup with every starter reaching base at least once. Whittington (4-4, 3 R, 2 RBI), Lewis (2-3, 2 R, 2 RBI, HR), Barnes (1-2, 3 R, RBI, HR, 2 BB), Morgan Bernardini (3-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2B), Emma Yates (3-4, 3 R, 3 RBI), Reese Funk (2-3, R, 4 RBI, HBP), Zoe Maple (1-3, R, HBP) and Sydney Schenk (1-2) all had hits for the Lady Falcons in the rout.
