Lady Falcons go 2-2 for 4th place at their own Mid-Winter Tourney

  (Elkville, Ill.) - The Lady Falcons hosted their own Mid-Winter Tournament in January, finishing 2-2 for fourth place following a loss on January 23 to Galatia-Thompsonville, 40-31.

  Elverado began the tournament on January 15 with a dominating victory over Hardin County, 58-27. Allie Whittington (26 points) and Chloe Barnes (11) each finished in double figures for EHS, with Brianna Tuthill (9) nearly joining them. Abby Jeschke finished with 6 points, Emma Funk 4, and Morgan Cashion 2.

  A 36-31 win over Johnston City followed for the Falcons, with Whittington torching the Lady Indians for 19 points, all of which came after a lackluster first period for Elverado. EHS trailed 9-5 heading to the second quarter, but outscored J. City 13-4 there to take an 18-13 lead into the break. Funk finished with 8 points, Barnes 4, Jeschke 3 and Tuthill 2.

  Webber Township knocked the Lady Falcons out of championship contention on January 19, 44-40, taking advantage of a 4-point third quarter for Elverado. Whittington had seven three-pointers and 27 points in the losing effort, Jeschke added 7 points, Tuthill 4, and Funk 2.

  In the third place game, EHS fell to Galatia on January 23 despite 15 points from Whittington, 8 from Tuthill, 4 from Jeschke, and 2 apiece from Barnes and Funk.
