(Elkville & Chester, Ill.) - The Lady Falcons mowed down the Cobden Appleknockers 50-22 in Monday's home game in Elkville, getting a game-high 16 points from Allie Whittington and 14 from Chloe Barnes, who hit a pair of three-pointers in the contest.

Also scoring for Elverado in the victory over Cobden were Abby Jeschke (9 points), Emma Funk (9) and Brianna Tuthill (2).
The win followed a 4th place finish for EHS at the Chester Lady Jackets Mid-Winter Tournament the previous week. Elverado started the event with a 44-36 victory over Sparta on January 2. In that game, Whittington (18 points) and Jeschke (15) both finished in double figures, and fellow Lady Falcons Funk (5), Barnes (4) and Emma Yates (2) also scored.
Two days later, Marissa handed the Falcons a 38-29 loss where Whittington had 13 points to lead EHS. Funk added 7, Jeschke 5, Barnes 3 and Tuthill 1.
Finally, Elverado was defeated by New Athens on January 5, 52-40, to close out the Chester tournament. Whittington poured in 20 points in the losing effort. Jeschke (8 points), Tuthill (6), Funk (4) and Barnes (2) were also in the scoring column for the Lady Falcons.
