(Tamms & Marion, Ill.) - The Falcons ran their season record to 9-1 overall with victories on December 7 against Egyptian and December 11 against Agape Christian. At Tamms, Elverado trailed by as many as a dozen points before a strong finish and a 51-50 victory.

“Tonight was a hard fought road win,” said EHS head coach Jacob Emling. “We battled to the very end and were able to come out on top. The kids had several opportunities when things didn’t go our way that they could have given up, but they kept battling. For that I am proud of them. Brody (Troutt) and Michael (Shearer) really stepped up for some guys who were in foul trouble. They came in and played great defense and rebounded.”

Aquntez Penn finished with a team-high 19 points in the victory. Dawson White joined him in double figures with 13 points. Isaac Floyd had 8 points, Sam Alstat had 5, Troutt 4 and Trey Bernardini 2.

White, Floyd and Penn were all in double figures in the scoring column at Agape, helping EHS race to a 52-40 victory, their ninth of the season. The Falcons led by as many as 19 points late in the ball game.

“We got off to our slowest start of the year,” Emling said. “We didn’t come out with a lot of energy or intensity. We finally starting playing with energy about the last two minutes of the first half, and we went on a big run. After that we were fine.”

“We talked about playing four quarters like that, if we can do that, we will be a lot better team. If we get out to slow starts like that against Cobden and a Thompsonville this weekend we will dig a hole we can’t get out of.”

White finished with 19 points, Penn had 14, Floyd 12, Bernardini 3, and Troutt and Blaine Morse each scored 2 points.
