(Marion, Ill.) - Three Falcons finished in double figures, including senior Aquntez Penn with a game-high 23 points, and Elverado fought off the host Trojans for a 61-55 victory on the first night of the 20th Annual Crab Orchard Turkey Tournament on Monday night.

Trailing 22-21 with just over four minutes to go in the opening half of play, the Falcons got back-to-back three-pointers from Dawson White to spark a 14-0 run, which helped them to a 35-26 lead at the break.

The Trojans fought to stay close with the three-ball, hitting eight triples during the game, but couldn’t get the lead under five the rest of the way despite some free throw troubles for Elverado down the stretch.

White and Isaac Floyd both joined Penn in double figures with 16 points, Michael Shearer added 4 points, and Trey Bernardini finished with 2. Sam Alstat, Brody Troutt, Chase Buser and Blaine Morse also saw floor time for EHS in the season opener.
