(Elkville, Ill.) - Elverado returned from a holiday break on January 8 at home and defeated visiting Agape Christian 68-53 behind double-digit scoring efforts from Aquntez Penn, Dawson White and Isaac Floyd. The Falcons did almost half of their damage from behind the three-point arc, burying ten triples on the night, five by Penn, four by White.

“We executed pretty well offensively and knocked down our shots,” said EHS head coach Jacob Emling. “Defensively we just have to be more consistent. We had too many breakdowns on the help side that gave them some easy buckets. We will continue to work on that as we head to the Egyptian Mid-Winter next week.”

White was the offensive star in the first half, scoring 16 of his 18 points as the Falcons took a 34-22 lead into halftime. After the break, Penn helped Elverado maintain their edge with 16 of his game-high 25 points.

Floyd added 10 points, Trey Bernardini had 8, Sam Alstat 4, and Michael Shearer 3.

Elverado beings the Egyptian Mid-Winter Tournament on Monday, January 14 at 8 p.m. against Zeiger-Royalton.
