(Dowell, Ill.) - Tanner Shread struck out ten batters and Blaine Morse and Chase Buser had huge days at the plate for Elverado, as the Falcons scored a 10-5 home win over Crab Orchard on April 11.

An error led to a 1-0 lead for the Trojans in the top of the first inning, and three base hits in the fourth increased Crab Orchard’s lead to 3-0.

With the score still 3-0 entering the bottom of the fifth frame, the Falcons’ bats came to life. Jessie Shread started things off with a walk, and with one out, Tyler Martin and Chase Buser singled, with Buser’s hit driving in a pair. After T. Shread flew out to right and Clayton Tripp-Reams walked, Morse delivered a two-run double. Trey Bernardini followed with another two-bagger to bring in Morse for a 5-3 EHS lead.

The Falcons would add five more runs in the bottom of the sixth, getting RBI doubles from Buser, T. Shread and Morse.

  T. Shread finished with 6 1/3 innings pitched, four earned runs allowed on six hits and a walk with ten strikeouts for the win. Hunter McRoy closed out the seventh, getting two outs and allowing one hit.

  Buser (2-4, 2 R, 3 RBI, 2B), T. Shread (1-3, R, 2 RBI, 2B), Tripp-Reams (1-1, 2 R), Morse (2-3, R, 4 RBI, 2 2B), Bernardini (1-2, RBI, 2B), Martin (2-3, 2 R) and Samuel Alstat (1-3, R) had Elverado’s ten hits against Crab Orchard.
