(Chester & Tamms, Ill.) - The baseball Falcons failed to break out of their slump at Chester on April 8, falling in five innings by the score of 13-3. Five errors on defense did nothing to help the Falcons’ cause.
Down 5-0, Elverado fought back into the ball game momentarily in the top of the fourth inning with a three-run rally, getting two of those runs on a two-run double by leadoff hitter Tanner Shread.
But the Yellow Jackets had too much fire power, answering with five runs in the bottom of the fourth, and finishing off the short-game with three in the fifth.
T. Shread (1-2, 2 RBI, 2B), Jessie Shread (1-2), Trey Bernardini (1-2), and Hunter McRoy (1-3, R) had hits for EHS. Bernardini took the loss on the mound (3 IP, 7 ER, 7 H, 4 BB, 2 K), with McRoy pitching in relief (1.67 IP, 3 ER, 7 H, 1 K).
Things didn’t improve the following afternoon at Egyptian, where the Falcons were one-hit in a 10-0 five-inning shutout. T. Shread had Elverado’s only hit, a single in the top of the third inning.
Blaine Morse (3 IP, 5 ER, 4 H, 5 BB, 5 K) took the loss at Egyptian, J. Shread (1 IP, 5 ER, 5 H, BB) tossed an inning-plus of relief.
