(Ullin, Ill.) - The Baseball Falcons out-hit Century on the road Tuesday, 14-9, but the Centurions managed to come away with a 9-5 victory after scoring seven times in their last two at-bats.

“We had another great start by Tanner Shread on the bump, but we just can't close it out in the end of the ballgame,” said Elverado head coach Reid Cure. “Routine errors hurt early on, which allowed Century to stay with us. If you're going to beat a good team those things can't happen.”

Two errors led to two unearned runs for the Centurions in the bottom of the first, then the Falcons dominated the next three and a half frames. Reed Funk picked up an RBI in the second inning to cut the lead in half, then Trey Bernardini doubled in a run in the fourth to tie the score.

In the top of the fifth, EHS put up three more runs to make it 5-2, getting RBI singles from T. Shread, Blaine Morse, and Hunter McRoy.

A pair of two-out rallies by Century then spoiled the day for the Falcons. After already trimming one run off with a one-out single, Century got two more in the bottom of the fifth on a two-out double by Drake Biggerstaff. Kelton Richardson, Christian Halverson and Jeff Miller each added two-out RBI hits in the sixth.

  T. Shread (2-4, 2 R, RBI), Bernardini (1-2, R, RBI, 2B), Morse (2-4, R, RBI), McRoy (3-4, RBI), Funk (2-3, RBI), Chase Buser (1-3), Tyler Martin (1-3, R) and Jesse Shread (2-3) had hits for Elverado.
