(Bluford, Ill.) - Tanner Shread struck out six batters and allowed just one run on six hits in his six innings of work, and Blaine Morse homered for the Falcons in their 6-2 victory at Webber Township on March 16, Elverado’s first win of the season.

Morse’s homer gave EHS a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth before the Trojans tied it up in the bottom half, manufacturing a run on a hit-by-pitch, a stolen base, and a base hit.

The Falcons took command in the fifth, though, putting up four runs with the help of three bases-loaded walks to Zachary Absher, Reed Funk and Sam Alstat. Trey Bernardini and Chase Buser singled earlier in the inning and later scored.

Jesse Shread drove in the sixth run for the Falcons on a single in the seventh, bringing in Alstat.

Buser (2-4, R), T. Shread (1-2), Bernardini (1-3, R), Morse (1-3, 2 R, RBI, HR), Alstat (1-3, R, RBI) and J. Shread (1-3, R, RBI) had Elverado’s hits at Webber.
