DMS Volleyball wins Benton Tournament, defeats last two state champions

  (Benton, Ill.) - The Lady Warriors picked up five victories and a first place trophy at Saturday's Benton Tournament, including wins over the last two Class L State Champions, Murphysboro and Massac County.
  Du Quoin didn't lose a set all day, beating Sparta 25-18, 25-21; Benton 25-11, 25-15; Carmi 25-11, 25-15; Murphysboro 25-15, 25-22; and Massac County 25-23, 25-21. The win over Murphysboro avenged the Lady Warriors' only loss of the season to that point.
  Ayanna Dunklin had a team-high 38 kills at the tournament, and shared the team lead in blocks with Loveleen Dunklin, each of them recording 7. L. Dunklin added 15 kills, Lauren Heape had 10. Lexi Cobin led the team in digs with 29, Heape was next with 17, Avrey McClanahan 12, and Sophie Miller and Maddie Decker each had 11. Cobin also led service aces with 18, and Miller led assists with 49 on the day.
  Adi Darnell, Brenna Provart, Faith Ford, Lilly Nevill, Stella Ingram, Emily Smith, Abby Mocaby and Olivia James also saw action for Du Quoin at the Benton Tournament.
  DMS improved to 17-1 overall after the tournament, and is 6-1 in conference play.
