(Du Quoin, Ill.) - The Lady Indians honored their lone senior, Grace Haney, at Tuesday Night's Senior Night game in Du Quoin, but couldn't celebrate with a victory as Anna-Jonesboro won the SIRR Mississippi Division matchup 43-25.
DHS had the early lead, getting a three-pointer from Chloe Hill, two buckets from Haney, another from Katie Smith, and a free throw from Morgan Bullar in the first quarter to build a 10-6 edge heading to the second.
But the second quarter was absolutely dreadful for the Lady Indians' offense. Du Quoin failed to score in the entire period, missing the front end of three one-and-one opportunities at the free throw line, where they finished the night 7-for-20.
Still, A-J led just 13-10 at the break, but opened things up with a 13-7 third quarter before pouring in on in the fourth, where they out-scored DHS 17-8.
Haney and Hill each finished with a team-high 9 points for Du Quoin. Bullar added 3, and Smith and Elizabeth Bird each had 2.
The Lady Indians wrap up the regular season on Thursday at Nashville before hosting their Class 2A Regional beginning with Monday's quarterfinal matchup with Chester.
